Lic. Alejandro Rodríguez Vega

Lic. Rodríguez was a member of the Supreme Court of Costa Rica (Judge of the First Court of the Supreme Court), and later he was a Judge and first President of the Constitutional Court of the Supreme Court of Costa Rica; he was also the President of the Contentious-Administrative Court of the Superior Court. He studied Public Law in the University of Bordeaux, France and Tax Law at the Inter-American Center for Tax Studies in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Moreover, Lic. Rodríguez has been co-editor of several laws in Finance and Public Law, including the General Customs Law, the Amendments of the General Public Administration Law, the Constitutional Jurisdiction Law, among others. Lic. Rodríguez is also a Law Arbitrator of the Supreme Court and a member of the Commission assessing the Judges who are applying for promotions at the Judiciary.

Lic. Rodríguez specializes in Commercial and Tax Law. He got a Master's degree in Business and Tax Law from the Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología. Lic. Rodríguez has extensive experience in companies, bargaining, arbitration, agreements, court-ordered collection proceedings, and business and tax issues. He has been a Law Arbitrator of the American Chamber of Commerce since 2002. He is a Member of the Legal Group for the XXI Century Strategy, Franklin Chang Díaz. He is a Member of the Association of Professionals in Intellectual Property in Costa Rica. He is a member of the Center for Tax Studies. He was President of C.I.S.V. (Children International Summer Villages) Association of Costa Rica from 1997 to 2000. He was the Students' General Attorney at the Universidad de Costa Rica and Director of La Toga Newspaper from the School of Law from the Universidad de Costa Rica.

She is graduated from the Top Management Program at INCAE (PAG 53). She graduated from the course on Quality Management in Public Administration, CEDDET, Spain. She was the General Director of the Ministry of Finance from 2001 to May 2006. Her main duties included providing Tax Policy advice to the Minister, as well as granting and monitoring tax exemptions. She was the representative of the Ministry of the Finance during CAFTA's negotiations (Central American Free Trade Agreement between Central America, the Dominican Republic, and the United States). She was a full member of the Regulatory Tourism Commission, a registered agency approving the granting of tourism incentive agreements. She was a full member of the Tax Policy Technical Group of CAFTA's signatories led by the International Monetary Fund. She was the president of the Special Commission of the Red Frigorífica Nacional (National Cold Storage Network), in charge of the arbitration proceedings. She was a full member of the Executive Commission for the construction of the highway to San Carlos. She was a member of the High-Level Commission for the Creation of a Single-Window for Company Formalization as coordinated by MEIC (Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Commerce of Costa Rica).

he has a Master's degree in Intellectual Property from the Franklin Pierce Law Center. He was a Contestant and Judge in the “Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition” Washington, D.C., U.S.A. He worked at the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica as an Advisor and Negotiator of international trade agreements in the areas of services and investment including the Costa Rica-Chile Free Trade Agreement, bilateral investment agreements with Finland, South Korea, and Switzerland. She was formerly a lawyer at the Attorney's General office, specializing in Administrative and Constitutional Law. She has graduate studies in Public Law at the Universidad de Costa Rica, and she got Ph.D. in Fundamental Rights at Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, Spain. She has extensive litigation experience in areas such as Constitutional Law, Government Contracting, and Arbitration where the Government and Government agencies are parties.
